I recently had the opportunity to speak with new author and Olympic gold medalist, Meryl Davis and couldn’t be more excited to share our conversation with you! You may know Meryl for her incredible figure skating career. In 2014, Meryl and her partner, Charlie White, won the first ever U.S. gold in Olympic ice dancing. Meryl also won Dancing with the Stars Season 18.
She is now sharing her writing talent with the world with her very first book, Moon Walk! She says, “I wrote Moon Walk last summer after having lots of conversations with my friends (many of whom are young mothers) about talking to their children about important, but difficult topics. This piece is meant to act as a message from parent to child and also as a catalyst for parents and their children to begin having important conversations. Too often, children feel afraid to be honest with their parents about intimidating subject matter and this book is meant to set the tone for open and honest conversations, as well as a supportive and trusting relationship, as children grow and face obstacles both big and small.”
This book truly has such a beautiful message and makes the perfect bedtime story. It’s also accompanied by the most whimsical illustrations! Watch the interview with Meryl below to learn about the process of writing a children’s book, working with publishers, and a closer look at what inspired Moon Walk.

Is it possible to have an email transcript sent to me? I had problems with the audio of the interview? Also might there be a way I could attempt to try watching the interview again?
