Hayley is writing a book!

I’m delighted to introduce Her Literary Home, a book I’m writing about the homes of classic women writers. I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes of my writing and research process on Substack alongside in-depth posts about literary houses and peeks inside my own home.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to write a book…I just haven’t known what it would be about. It wasn’t until I began immersing myself in the worlds of our most beloved authors with you, that inspiration struck. My dream for this book is to not only honor our favorite writers, but to add beauty to your life. If you’ve experienced our literary tours, I want it to whisk you back to the wonderful memories we made. If you haven’t visited these literary landmarks in-person, my goal is to bring them to life in a way that makes you feel like you have. Thank you so very much for being a part of this journey!

JUNE

the importance of imagination

This June, our reading selection is The Secret Book of Flora Lea. During WWII, Hazel Linden creates a story about a world called Whisperwood to comfort her younger sister while they are evacuated to the English countryside. When Flora disappears, the story becomes a lasting thread between them. Twenty years later, Hazel discovers a rare book that contains the same story, setting her on a search for answers and for the sister she lost. We’ll be hosting a Zoom conversation with the author, Patti Callahan Henry, plus welcoming Society members to Prince Edward Island where we’ll immerse ourselves in the landscapes that inspired Anne Shirley’s imagination.
